Who We Are

Compass Counseling

Life contains a variety of challenges that can hinder you from experiencing the abundant life of Christ. Some of these challenges may feel like a mountain — impossible to climb; too difficult to navigate on your own. That is why Compass Counseling exists to help people where they are.

The vision started in 2005 when a passion to help people was birthed in our founder, Jeff Black. The journey since then has been an adventure that finally landed him in Southlake, Texas, close to his childhood hometown of Keller. Along the way, God placed a desire in Jeff’s heart to walk closely with men, ministers, marriages, missionaries and addicts in an effort to help them find true freedom from lies, faulty beliefs and strongholds that keep them from experiencing all that God has for them.

The Goal: Create a safe place where people can be real with a counselor that tries to be real with them. The Hope: This atmosphere of authenticity will help guide people back to their true identity in Christ.

Everyone has a mountain. Let us help you with yours.

You have circled this mountain long enough, turn north!  Deut 2:3

Jeff and his wife, Ali, attend Gateway Church, where he has participated and been trained in Freedom Ministry. They have been married since 2007, and love raising their two sons and one daughter together.

Neddy Dommer

Pastoral Counselor

Neddy holds a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from The King’s University and is currently working toward licensure as both a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Neddy’s passion is seeing people set free — free from past hurts and traumas, from the lies that haunt their present and steal their future. She believes people were CREATED FOR and BORN INTO. She holds that gaining a greater awareness and understanding of how this life has shaped us allows us the power and ability to decide how we move closer to walking in the calling we were created for.

Neddy believes in a systems approach as she believes we were not created to walk through life alone. It is through relationship that we learn who we are, and it is in relationship that we find healing. She embraces working with entire family units toward living in joy and loving fully.

Neddy’s areas of specialized training include: Marriage & Family Therapy, TF-CBT, Collaborative Solutions Therapy, Gottman Levels 1 & 2 Trained, Prepare-Enrich Certification. Her professional experience includes: Couples — premarital, marital, parenting, pornography/infidelity, abuse recovery; Family — communication, development/stages of life, restoration/reintegration post abuse; Youth — self-esteem, ADHD, anger management, behavior issues, divorce, abandonment, parental death/grief; Adolescents & Young adults — anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-injury, sexual abuse/trauma, suicidal ideation.

Neddy is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy, and the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine

Neddy attends Gateway Church where she is a mentor in the Pink Women’s Mentoring Ministry. Outside of the counseling room and volunteering at church, she enjoys spending time with her four children, engaging in outdoor activities, and furthering her knowledge in the areas that will best serve the clients she works with.

Brady Daniel

Brady’s heart and roots run deep in this great state of Texas, where he grew up and lived in the Texas panhandle. During his time of moving around, he met a lot of great people but observed a common thread of people hurting. It did not take him long to discover that he wanted to help people live a victorious and full life.

He graduated with his Bachelors of Science in human development from Oklahoma State University while receiving his Master of Arts in counseling from Dallas Baptist University. He completed his graduate practicum at a successful DFW counseling center and has worked for two  additional counseling firms, focusing on families.

He has worked for a large church in the DFW area for the past eight years before establishing a private practice. During that time he counseled, trained and taught men, women, children and families to hear God and become free. He helped pioneer a next-generation freedom area that ministered to parents, kids and teenagers and consulted domestic and international churches to do the same.

He loves inspiring the next generation of ministers and counselors. He serves as an adjunct professor in the Biblical Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy programs at The King’s University at Gateway in Southlake, Texas.

He has a passion for people to experience the healing that the Cross provided and for people to walk by the vibrational frequency of Heaven.
